Benefits of Laser Therapy
Class IV laser therapy, also known as high power therapeutic laser, is an increasingly valuable tool in a holistic veterinary setting because it supports the body’s natural healing processes without the need for additional pharmaceuticals. Using specific wavelengths of light, Class IV laser therapy stimulates cellular activity in a process known as photobiomodulation. This light energy penetrates deeply into tissues, increasing circulation, enhancing oxygen delivery, and encouraging ATP (cellular energy) production within cells. The result is reduced inflammation, decreased pain, and accelerated tissue repair in a gentle, non-invasive way that aligns beautifully with a whole body approach to care.
In pets experiencing osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries, spinal discomfort, or post surgical recovery, laser therapy can significantly improve mobility and comfort. By reducing inflammatory mediators and supporting lymphatic drainage, it helps calm swelling while also promoting the regeneration of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and even nerve tissue. Many pets visibly relax during treatment, and some show improvement after just a few sessions, particularly when therapy is introduced early in the course of injury or chronic disease. For senior animals, laser therapy can be an important part of maintaining quality of life by easing stiffness and encouraging more natural movement.
Within a holistic framework, Class IV laser therapy works synergistically alongside modalities such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional therapy, and physical rehabilitation. Rather than masking symptoms, it assists the body in restoring balance and function at a cellular level. It is safe for most species, well tolerated, and especially helpful for patients who may not be able to tolerate long term anti-inflammatory medications. When thoughtfully integrated into an individualised treatment plan, laser therapy offers a compassionate, science based way to support healing while honouring the body’s innate capacity to recover.
Appointments are available in-clinic where we set your pet up comfortably for the session or in the comfort of your own home. Initial laser consultation will be with a veterinarian and follow up sessions are scheduled with one of our qualified nurses.
